The Punjab School Education Department has enforced a strict ban on the use of social media by school heads and teachers.
A notification has been issued to education authorities, instructing them to ensure compliance with this new directive, which follows provincial government orders.
According to the department, any violation of the Punjab Government Rules of 1966 will result in serious action against those responsible. It is pertinent to mention that provincial authorities across the country have taken strict action against the use of social media by officials, particularly police.
Earlier today, following directives from the Establishment Division, a new social media policy has been approved for police officials in Islamabad. The policy restricts officers from expressing personal views, sharing articles, or engaging in public communication without official approval.
Officers are strictly prohibited from posting videos or photographs in uniform, inside government vehicles, or in offices for personal promotion. They are also forbidden from posting any sensitive or official information online.
