The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has revealed the list of potential players for the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024, which will be held in Nepal from October 17 to 30.
The preliminary squad, which is already undergoing a training camp in Islamabad from October 1st, is as follows.
Goalkeepers: Nisha Ashraf, Mafia Parveen and Rumaysa Khan
Defenders: Kayla Siddiqi, Mishal Bhatti, Sarah Khan, Nizalia Siddiqi, Sophia Qureshi, Fatima Nasir, Mehreen Khan and Khadija Wali
Midfielders: Suha Hirani, Maria Khan, Sanah Mehdi, Amina Hanif, Rameen Fareed and Kayanat Bokhari
Forwards: Nadia Khan, Zahmena Malik, Isra Khan, Anmol Hira, Anushey Usman, Aliya Sadiq and Eman Mustafa.
The Pakistan women’s national team has been placed in Group A of the SAFF Women’s Championship, along with former champions India and the current titleholders, Bangladesh. Pakistan will begin their tournament on October 17 with a match against India, followed by a group-stage game against Bangladesh on October 20.
Forward Nadia Khan is back in the squad after recovering from a significant knee injury. However, key player Zulfiya Nazir will be absent due to personal reasons, and Aliza Sabir is unavailable because of her exams.
The 2024 SAFF Women’s Championship will be the Pakistan women’s national team’s first international outing since September 2023, with their last bunch of fixtures coming in the form of a 4 team-friendly tournament held in Saudi Arabia.
