Pakistan Women’s Netball Team Gets Veteran British Coach for Asian Championship

The Pakistan women’s netball team is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming Asian Netball Championship 2024, scheduled to take place in Bengaluru, India, from October 18. In a strategic move, the netball team has brought on board British coach Ellie Moore.

Ellie Moore, an experienced coach with extensive knowledge of the sport, has already visited Pakistan to observe the National Netball Championship and evaluate the talent pool. She is currently overseeing the training of Pakistani players based in London.

Speaking about the team’s preparations, Mudassar Arain, President of the Pakistan Netball Federation, stated that more Pakistani players are expected to join the training camp in London soon. “We are expecting five to six more players to be part of the London camp, and Ellie is working closely with the players to get them ready for this important championship,” Arain said.

The Asian Women’s Netball Championship will feature top teams from across the continent, including participants from Bahrain, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India, and Chinese Taipei.

The Pakistan squad is scheduled to depart for India in early October. The players and officials have already applied for their Indian visas and are awaiting approvals in anticipation of the event. The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC), granting the team permission to participate in the championship.

In addition to visa preparations, the Netball Federation has submitted a budget for the championship to the PSB for final approval. Once the budget is approved, the Pakistan-based players will resume their training camp.
